"Sammy the Salamander"

Or, at least we think it's a salamander...  here is a picture of our sweet little Sammy!

I guess we should start this tale by saying, we are the LEAST GREEN THUMBED PEOPLE IN OUR COMPLEX I BET.  Anything planted under our nose eventually dies, or more so dies rather suddenly (Just saying).  I really don't know what it is but I am determined to have our front walkway/entryway and our back patio in tip top shape by summertime, but the other day I began gettin' dirty and got about this far before "Sammy" made the big debut...



I think I may paint these rocks brightly if there is such a thing as "rock paint". Perhaps plant some tulips when the time comes in this bed as well (Dun Dun Duuun-in scary music voice) we'll see if anything comes of that!


Here is another shot of my son, Mikai, trying hard to get the lines right for "Hangman Sentence", which is yet another invented game for him.  I think his sentence was something like... "What a fun day, did you have a fun day?"  Yes sir I did even though my project didn't get too far and it was like 0 degrees with the wind chill factor.  Finding "Sammy" was by far the highlight because let me tell you, trying to raise a child that is appreciative of nature is hard---but getting out there and literally digging something up is fun all by itself!  Not to mention the rolly polie families we found and I swear there was a centipede or something too :)

Dun Dun Duunnnnnn (scary music voice) these are the flowers planted the other day that are placed outside the front door, which I hope will yield some beautiful colorful flowers.  Will keep you posted on this story as it unfolds...
