I have a Vitamix that I turn on smoothie setting and it is done in about a minute! Yummy yummy goodness for my whole family.
2 cups filtered water
2 tablespoons greek yogurt
1 tablespoon chia seed
2 teaspoon cacao nibs
1 teaspoon honey
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup frozen mixed berries-I buy organic from Costco
1 cup frozen strawberries
Chia seed background:
Salvia hispanica, commonly known as chia, is a species of flowering plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae, native to central and southern Mexico and Guatemala.[1] The 16th-century Codex Mendoza provides evidence that it was cultivated by the Aztec in pre-Columbian times; economic historians have suggested it was as important as maize as a food crop.[2] It is still used in Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina, Mexico and Guatemala, sometimes with the seeds ground or with whole seeds used for nutritious drinks and as a food source.
Chia Seed nutritional benefits:
2 tablespoons= 18% of daily calcium intake, 11 grams of fiber, and 4 grams protein.
Other Super food added to this recipe: Cacao nibs
Highest source of antioxidants and also contains lots of cardiovascular benefits such as flavonoids and other blood pressure reducing components. It tasted good too! I used it for the 1st time and it added a yummy flavor and sweetness to the drink.
Over all this got a green light from Mikai as he drank it all gone, We will only add 1 tsp cacao next time we make this one! Seeds were in there but wasn't too unpleasant.
More smoothie recipes to come!
